Debates, Debacles and Destiny

Last night I met with my Bible study small group. We are studying the parables of Jesus. We discussed the religious and political leaders of that time, which of course, led to today's leaders.

We discussed the debacle with the economy. We shared our thoughts on the candidates and the upcoming debates. All of us had differing opinions, except for one. The one truth that we agreed upon is that we serve the King of kings--the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is no debate on this issue for our group. This is our destiny.

For myself, I am blessed to be a part of Proverbs 31 Ministries. Proverbs 31 believes that everyone should have one destiny--eternal life with Jesus. I am proud to be a partner with this ministry and to give my time and money to help expand the kingdom of God.

At this time, uncertainty and crisis in our nation, why not cast your vote for something that will last for eternity? Help Proverbs 31 Ministries to further God's kingdom by becoming a monthly partner. Help us to bring God's peace, perspective and purpose to today's busy woman.

Put aside the debates and the debacles for today. Let's further the kingdom of God, it's a destiny that is eternal.

Hi Susanne, I needed your GFI P31 devo this morning - GFI's abound these days in the midst of not only debates and debaucles, but every sort of daily ordinary life! Thanks for the reminderto remember Jesus when our lives get interrupted. BTW - hope we get to see each other in a couple of weeks.

Susanne, loved your GFI analogy in today's P31 e-mail devotion! :-)

Hi Susanne, thank you for illustrating God's truth in such a vivid picture. GFI's can be heavy on many. Thank God, He can override them all. PTL.

Susanne,
Loved the GFI devo! Your name came up in conversation with a long time friend of mine from Indiana. She commented on how one of your devos from several years ago has helped her over and over. You have given her unending hope.
Thanks for your selflessness my friend,
Luann

Susanne,
I want to tell you what an encouragement your devotion was on 9/30 about the GFI. I woke that morning knowing that I was going to be taking my son to radiology for tests. I was feeling overwhelmed at the thought of what could happen, when I went to my beloved Koi pond and found it nearly empty of water. My prize Koi were gasping for air as they lay in an inch of water. I got the pond stabilized, I hurried in to get a shower and wept on my bathroom floor. I had a pity party and only invited myself. I gathered myself together and prayed to God, asking him to help me through this day. It was then that I read your devotion and instantly felt peace. I wrote down that scripture and headed out the door. Little did I know how many times during the next 2 days would I read that scripture from my Bible. My sons condition was worse than they thought and they immediately sent him to surgery...something that we hadn't even comprehended may happen that day. I was calm. I knew that God went ahead of us and I had peace. The one surgery became a presurgery to an upcoming surgery because it was worse than expected again. I was calm! I have shared this scripture with my son who at this time has a bladder bag hanging from him. He is calm, knowing that God is in the next step of this. A friend called to check on me and I shared the scripture with her, not knowing that she had just found out that she is pregnant with their 7th child and that her husband lost his job all in the same day. She found peace! Thank you for your words of encouragement and being the vessel God wanted to use to touch so many that day.
